The children‟s comprehension of metaphor and irony was tested with a multiple-choice task. To assess grammar comprehension, the Test for Reception of Grammar was used. The findings suggest that metaphor understanding can precede first-order ToM ability while second-order ToM ability is not sufficient to ensure better irony comprehension.
